SHIELD Project Assistant
Under the supervision of the SHIELD Project Coordinator, the Assistant will carry out the following job duties:
Responsibilities
Assist with work plans, budgets, evaluation, and activities based on SHIELD project objectives.
Build upon established partnerships and networks relevant to the project.
Assist with the delivery of sexual health and related wellness education and prevention.
Contribute to the day-to-day operation of the SHIELD Project and complete related administrative duties.
Compose monthly progress reports and contribute to required funder/organizational reports.
Represent the SHIELD Project in a professional manner to partners and the community.
Assist in the planning and implementation of health and social development activities for youth using art, culture and technology strategies.
Serve on required committees, attend meetings, and compile notes related to the project.
Contribute to online activities, events and campaigns through website/social media platforms.
Travel as required.
Training and in-service as required.
Other related duties.
Qualifications
Post-secondary graduate in Community Studies or health related field, or a combination of work-related experience and training.
One year experience in a health or social program field.
Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
Understanding of the social and cultural barriers faced by Labrador's Indigenous people.
Must provide a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Assets
Knowledge of Labrador Indigenous cultures
Knowledge of an Indigenous language.
Indigenous or of Indigenous ancestry.
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Wage
$20.00 per hour plus other benefits.

Parent Coordinator
The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Parent Coordinator for the Little Tree Family Centre.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Little Tree Family Centre Program Manager, the Parent Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties;
Recruiting and enrolling children and parents into the program.
Making recommendations and referrals to parents
Providing direct services to parents, such as contacting, liaising and securing resources required to meet their needs, including special needs of children and their families.
Coordinating schedules and implementing parent training in educational activities, such as health, nutrition, cultural developmental needs and social activities.
Assisting Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and parents to meet their children's physical, social, emotional and intellectual potential.
Supervising all aspects of the Little Tree Family Centre (LTFC) in the absence of the Program Manager.
Setting up transportation schedules for Family Centre programs.
Planning weekly menus and delivery of groceries.
Representing the LTFC on various committees as needed.
Maintaining registration statistics.
Inputting data to the database system.
Submitting monthly reports to the LTFC Program Manager.
Scheduling elders or resource people for centre visits.
Participating as a team member in all aspects of the Centre.
Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education Graduate or other social services related field with three years' experience in early childhood education or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office.
Successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Hourly Rate of Pay:
$26.44 per hour
