Community Service Worker


The mission of the Labrador Friendship Centre is to endeavour to provide the best possible services to enrich the lives of the Inuit, Innu, and Métis of Labrador through the provision and implementation of social, cultural, health, educational, and developmental initiatives.

The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Service Worker.

Responsibilities
• Assist community members through advocacy, systems navigation and support to address any barriers.
• Assist client to sort out options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance.
• Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal, medical, financial assistance, housing, employment, education, child care and other referral services.
• Develop and Implement programs and services that support clients transitioning to urban Labrador from rural and remote communities.
• Coordinate and deliver effective culturally appropriate programs and services for urban Indigenous peoples.
• Develop/enhance partnerships at the community, regional, and national level to achieve program objectives.
• Prepare and monitor the program budget.
• Prepare an annual work plan for the programs and services provided.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
• Responsible for all aspects of the Independent Living Program.
• Ensure the adherence of the Residential Tenancies Act for Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Participate in the selection and admission of clients into the Independent Living units.
• Represent the Labrador Friendship Centre on various committees, as required.
• Maintain statistics for reporting purposes.
• Training and in-servicing as required.
• Travel as required.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications
• Post-secondary graduate of a social sciences or health related discipline or an equivalent combination of work experience and or training.
• Minimum of two years' work experience in a related field.
• Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Must possess a valid class five driver's license and have access to a vehicle at all times.

Assets
• Ability to speak a Labrador Indigenous language
• Must be knowledgeable of the Indigenous cultures of Labrador.
• Indigenous ancestry is an asset.

Wages:
• $22.35 per hour plus benefits.

Security/Guest Relations


The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Security/Guest Relations Full Time.

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Business and Property Manager and the Guest Relations Coordinator, the Security/Guest Relations staff will carry out the following duties:
• Accurately maintain reservation sheets and guest log book.
• Correctly register incoming and outgoing tenants.
• Maintain an accurate account of float, sales, and confectionary inventory.
• Perform security checks of the Centre.
• Perform janitorial duties as needed.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must provide a code of conduct from the RCMP.

Assets:
• Knowledgeable of Labrador's Indigenous cultures.

Assisted Living Worker Full Time and Casual Call In


The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently seeking Assisted Living Workers, Casual Call-in, to assist with the personal care, health and well-being of Level 1 and 2 residents under the Assisted Living Program. Under the supervision of the Assisted Living Manager, the Assisted Living Worker will carry out the following duties:

Responsibilities:
• Programming with residents.
• Prepare and cook the day to day meals for the residents. This will include breakfast, dinner, supper and snacks.
• Do the laundry for the residents or assist residents with laundry responsibilities as needed.
• Provide general cleaning duties for the residential unit on a daily, weekly and annual basis.
• Assist residents with hygiene and personal care on a daily basis.
• Carry out duties which provide for the comfort and safety of the residents.
• Maintain the inventory for the kitchen supplies.
• Do security checks of the building.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
• Completion of High School, some post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working with clients with multiple and complex needs.
• Experience working with clients who require assistance with day to day care.
• Experience caring for seniors.
• Must have experience working in a homecare setting.
• Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work various shifts; day, evening, night and weekends.

Assets:
• Possess a valid class five driver's license.
• Must be knowledgeable of the Indigenous cultures of Labrador.
• Written and verbal abilities in one of Labrador's Indigenous languages are an asset.
• Indigenous ancestry is an asset.

Wages:
• $17.06 per hour plus benefits.

Hours:
• Flexible hours to a maximum of 40 per week

The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Janitor Part time

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Business and Property Manager, the Janitor will carry out the following duties:
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Dust furniture, vacuum carpet and rug areas.
• Pick up debris and empty trash containers.
• Wash interior windows and glass doors.
• Wash walls and ceilings when required.
• Clean, disinfect, and polish bathroom fixtures and appliances.
• Fill in when full-time Janitor is on leave.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must provide a code of conduct from the RCMP.
